Call for tutorial proposals

We invite tutorial proposals for the 2027 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2027), which will take place from 11 - 16 July 2027 in Reykjavík, Iceland, at Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre. The conference theme is “Global Vision for a Changing Planet”.

Tutorials should enrich the scientific program through lectures and practical training in geoscience and remote sensing. We welcome proposals on emerging methods and applications, particularly those that encourage community participation and demonstrate how remote sensing observations and contemporary tools improve our understanding of Earth processes. We encourage proposals aligned with the IGARSS 2027 Special Themes, while welcoming other topics relevant to the community. These may also include tutorials that develop participants’ ability to communicate their research.

Accepted tutorials will be held on Sunday, 11 July 2027. Proposed formats are half-day or full-day sessions.

Proposal requirements

Please provide a concise proposal covering the following information:

• Tutorial title
• Instructor names, affiliations, and brief biographies
• An overview of the content and its relevance to the IGARSS community
• Learning objectives and expected participant outcomes
• Connections to tutorials previously delivered at IGARSS or other events
• Required background, skills, or other participant prerequisites
• Materials that will be supplied to participants
• Preferred duration: half day or full day
• For a half-day tutorial, indicate a morning or afternoon preference

How to submit

Proposals for tutorial sessions must reach the tutorial chairs by Tuesday, 3 November 2026. This deadline will be strictly observed, and no deadline extension will be given.

Review and notification

All who submitted tutorial proposals will be informed of the decisions of the tutorial chairs of IGARSS 2027 by email on Thursday, December 3 2026.

IGARSS 2027 will provide rooms equipped with Wi-Fi, power outlets, and tables and chairs for tutorial participants, as well as standard presentation equipment for speakers and coffee breaks.

Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their estimated benefit for the community and their fit within the tutorial program as a whole. Factors to be considered include relevance, timeliness, importance, diversity, and audience appeal; suitability for presentation in a half-day or full-day format; and past experience and qualifications of the instructors.
