Tour Description
Þórsmörk Super Jeep tour will take you off the beaten path to the Icelandic highlands, offering an unforgettable experience in a breathtaking landscape surrounded by the volcanic glaciers of Mýrdalsjökull, Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull, which erupted in 2010.
Reaching the Valley of the Thunder God, Thor, requires crossing glacial rivers in Super Jeeps. Along the way, there are stops at some of the area’s beautiful sights, including Merkurker, Nauthúsagil, Stakkholtsgjá, Valahnúkur and Gígjökull outlet glacier.

Tour Description
On the Fjallabak Super Jeep tour the lesser-known areas of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve come into view. From the Fljótshlíð valley, the route rises, soon into remote wilderness. Passing Einhyrningur “finger peak”, the magnificent technicolour canyon of Markafljótsgljúfur comes into view. Waterfalls abound in the area, and the canyon’s striking stratified lava and ash walls are a remarkable sight.
Beautifully sculpted landscapes, vivid green with moss carpeting, lead through Þverárbotnar. Unbridged, grey, glacial meltwater rivers flowing from Mýrdalsjökull, are crossed before entering the black ash deserts of Mælifellssandur.

Landmannalaugar is the pearl of Iceland's highlands and one of the country's largest geothermal areas, known for its vibrant colours, hot springs, rivers, and rugged surrounding landscape. It feels like stepping into a dreamland, with colourful mountains and black sand deserts.
The tour does not follow a strict itinerary, as the route may vary depending on the weather and mountain road conditions. Possible sights along the way include Hnausapollur, Sigöldugljúfur canyon, Frostastaðavatn lake, and Ljótipollur crater lake. The journey continues in a modified vehicle through the rugged landscape around Hekla, Iceland's most famous volcano, and into the breathtaking wilderness of Landmannalaugar.
In Landmannalaugar, the hike follows the lava fields towards Brennisteinsalda (Sulphur Mountain) or the nearby mountains, depending on the group's preferences.
On some occasions, the hike continues to the summit of Bláhnjúkur. The hike takes approximately 2 – 2,5 hours or longer depending on the preferences of the group.
A bath in the natural hot spring in Landmannalaugar is also an optional part of the experience!

More than the Golden Circle
Specially designed for IGARSS participants and their accompanying guests, this tour combines the classic Golden Circle highlights with local food, geothermal experiences and Icelandic farm life.
The first stop is Friðheimar Greenhouse, where visitors can learn about Icelandic greenhouse horticulture and how geothermal energy makes year-round tomato cultivation possible. After a short introduction to the farm, a little surprise awaits before continuing to the Secret Lagoon, one of Iceland’s oldest geothermal pools. Located near Flúðir, the lagoon offers a relaxing experience in warm waters maintained at 38–40°C (100–104°F), surrounded by natural geothermal activity.
Refreshed after the lagoon, the tour continues to Gullfoss, where the powerful Hvítá river plunges into a deep canyon, creating one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls.
From there, the route leads to the Geysir geothermal area, home to bubbling hot springs and the famous Strokkur geyser, which regularly erupts high into the air.
Dinner will be served at Efstidalur, a family-run dairy farm the heart of the Golden Circle, offering a relaxed countryside setting and a glimpse into Icelandic farm life.
The final stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Iceland’s most historically and geologically significant places. Þingvellir is where Iceland’s Alþingi parliament was established more than 1,000 years ago. It is also situated directly on the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, creating a remarkable landscape of rifts and fissures.
